Gold Cob Found!

On Monday, June 19, 2023, while carrying out excavations on the 1715 Fleet Douglas Beach Wreck (8SL17/S26), the crew of the M/V Showdown (C-31-A) recovered a nice example of a Bogota 2 Escudo, Tag #84256. This coin has both a well struck obverse and reverse. Congratulations to Captain Tom D. and crewmen Thomas Roles and Josh Abt. Aboard with the crew was guest Scott Smith. A good way to start the summer salvage season!
